Microsoft SQL Server

Microsoft SQL Server is one of the more popular database servers and data management platforms in use today. For those of you that may not be familiar with SQL Server, what it is in relation to ProServe 2012; is a Database Server Engine that handles all of the communications between ProServe 2012 and the databases designed for ProServe 2012. SQL Server comes in many different editions for many different business platforms, we will keep it simple and say it comes in two editions, Full and Express. The Full editions no matter what the version name is can be very expensive and is designed for medium to large server installations that have large databases. The Express edition is FREE... its designed for small business from single computer installations to small peer-to-peer or small business server networks.

In most cases our product run's fine with the FREE Express Edition. Why would Microsoft give away any version of SQL Server? 1st, it provides a great starting point for small business to get introduced to SQL Server. 2nd, Most importantly, it provides ISV's such as myself the support and ability to develop and distribute SQL Server database applications such as ProServe 2012 to small business.

You will need SQL Server to run our software, depending on your company size and requirements will determine which edition of SQL Server you may need. Please give us a call at 205.467.7427 - we will be happy to discuss your SQL Server solutions. Again, most of our clients uses the Free Express Edition, it can handle up to 10GB of data per database. Our software has five separate databases for that very purpose, our Customer database is separate from the Orders database.
